The Magnolia Brass Band

Parades, Parties, Picnics and, yes, Funerals

Magnolia Brass Band on Parade on Bourbon Street
New Orleans French Quarter Festival

The Magnolia Brass Band of Toronto is a traditional New Orleans style street parade band. If you ever saw HBO's "Treme" or the James Bond movie “Live and Let Die,” you’ve seen a brass band! The brass band tradition in New Orleans is long and rich – brass bands have played at parades, picnics, festivals, funerals and parties of every sort since before the beginnings of jazz. Founded in 1980 by Patrick Tevlin and legendary trumpeter Kid Bastien, the Magnolia is a part of that culture, and in fact performs regularly at New Orleans’ French Quarter Festival.

The Magnolia Brass Band is great on stage at any venue, but is really in its element playing outside, on parade!
